The story says that the place she was taken "has a specialist hyperbaric chamber for treatment of the bends that is the only one available 24 hours a day in the east of the UK." It would be interesting to hear more about this. If this was an OW training class taught within standard training limits, the bends should be close to impossible. So taking her to such a facility suggests the other reason to use it--lung overexpansion injury. I am surprised we have no more information on this after this many days.

With no followups, I did as extensive a search as I could with my limited skills, and all I could find was a massive number of repeats of the original story.

The silence is disturbing. What agency? We could figure this out by process of elimination.

Let's do this. Agency Reps (CDs and agency staff), please report here if this was not your agency.

Where is the value added to this discussion by once again going down the road "my agency is better than your agency or I glad it wasn't my agency?"

Nothing in my post calls for agency bashing.

The SCUBA community deserves some facts. That means agency and level of training being received.

I agree 100% with you the community deserves the facts and the level of training would be insightful.

Maybe it was the way I read your post...with no information about how this young lady lost her life you immediately called for Agency Rep to deny their association. It seem a little callus to me. Chances are we will ever learn anything more than what was already posted.
