Subscription notifications

I think the board is a little too liberal with notifications. How exactly do they work? I feel like I'm getting multiple notifications of new posts in active threads, even though I haven't been to the thread since those.

It depends on the settings you've chosen for your notifications.

Thanks, but that's not what I'm talking about. Maybe I didn't make myself clear. I get instant notifications for new posts. But, I have seen multiple notifications for the same thread, when I haven't been back to that thread, nor even its forum.

This may be cookie-related or the vBulletin software has an undocumented feature.
