Halooo!
I'm an Ontario Fresh Water Freak, one of those Crazy Canucks from elsewhere on the board, just dropping in to say Hi!
I'll be going to Montauk in mid May, actually to hang out with my S.O. while he surf's in a competition.
I'd like to dive while out there, any suggestions for sites? either shore or charters?
I've done fresh water lakes and Caribbean diving and
really looking forward to seing what cold salt water is like.

Tons of great wrecks to see depending upon how long a ride you want. The U-853 (130' max) is on the other side of Block Island. That will be a hike from Montauk but people do it. Depending upon your skill level there is also the USS Bass (160' max). There are other wrecks in that area of varying depths. This is the best site I have found for area wrecks:

Stonington CT is nice if you like looking for lobsters. Tons of rock and other fish life. Last season we saw a group of baby squid.
