Since this thread was started just under 2 years ago, I'm curious if the knife rusted through or not.

Since you asked, the one hanging off my wife's chest d-ring for the last 2 years (post #23) has done over a hundred dives with no special care. It gets rinsed when the BC gets rinsed and occasionally a smear of silicone grease on the blade. It's in excellent condition.
 
have you seen the new short blade green river - its not bad...
 
I have carried one in my raingear at work for a few months at a time and it rusted pretty good, and thats just rainwater that got into my pocket. I don't think it would be a good choice for diving.
