DIR is more than the wkpp. I, for one, am not following some clique group just because it's cool and trendy. Unless you're going to be very, very, seriously technically diving with a well oiled team, does it really matter? No, it doesn't matter. The color of your gear does not need to be black, you don't need to walk around with a stick up your ***. I know there are a minority of DIR divers who are overly snotty and stuck up, so to you I say:

Step one: remove stick.
Step two: deep breath.

There are more options than DIR and not DIR.
 
Don't get caught up in details, DIR is more than a gear configuration and a super cool club.
