The octopus looks like it's on a stick - the tentacles never move.
 
I agree with the respiration but notice how it moves without moving it's tentacles. And the person taking the video is absolutely still - like it's outside of an aquarium looking through the glass.

It is not faked. The camera doing the shot is placed, not being held, my guess.

Totally real and totally Octopus behavior. Tim is a longtime instructor and dive leader in Hawaii, and Octopus are shy and curious and love to play hide and seek like that. Had he reached his hand out, the Octo might have reached out his tentacles to take a taste (they have taste buds in their suckers). You have to be careful, though. If its a good size GPO, they can steal your mask or reg and you might be in trouble. They're also known to steal a camera.
 
I'd like to see the pictures he took.
