Anyone know of the diver who surfaced at the grotto unresponsive yesterday?

Anyone know of the diver who surfaced at the grotto unresponsive yesterday?

Yes, he unfortunately did pass away and his autopsy has been completed. Some test results are pending, so his cause of death is not absolutely conclusive yet, but will likely be shortly.

There was also a fatality in Marathon, Ontario that we will try to get factual information about.

Looks like he was on the Niagara II, not the Grotto.

BlackburnNews.com - Bruce Peninsula OPP Investigating Death Of Michigan Diver Near Tobermory

Bruce Peninsula OPP are investigating after a Michigan scuba diver died near Tobermory.

On Sunday, OPP received a report of an unresponsive male aboard the RCC Trenton vessel in Big Tub Harbour, Tobermory, in Northern Bruce Peninsula. The male was transported to the Tobermory Medical Centre where he was pronounced deceased.

He has been identified as 66-year old Michael Maxwell of Southfield, Michigan. He was one of nine divers exploring the Niagara II Shipwreck site east of Little Cove in Georgian Bay with his diving club from Michigan.

As he ascended, he became medically distressed. He was unresponsive when he was brought onto the RCC Trenton. A postmortem was scheduled for Monday in Owen Sound.

Sad day.
