Bottom Timer and your brain. If your brain is not an option, get something like V-planner and cut tables.

W T F?...
A computer is not a mandatory piece of equipment for a beginning trimix diver. You might want to hold off on buying one until you see if you'll actually need it. Many trimix divers use BT and tables only.
Having said that I have been happy with my explorer for most of the time I have owned it. Had lots of problems when it was new though.

I know it's not mandatory. It was just a topic of discussion. I didn't know I was going to get raked over the coals.

Sorry, who's raking you over the coals. If you are that sensitive step away from the keyboard:shakehead:

Scuba-Stu, I've been using BTs and tables and have been pretty happy. I dive mostly square profiles (wrecks) so I don't know if I'll actually *need* a tmx computer unless I start diving mix in caves which won't happen for a while. But if I were to buy one, I'd probably go w/ the Liquidvision X-1. I cut my tables on V-planner and this unit will run V-planner live. I likely won't get one until I move to closed circuit which is in the forseeable future. I might consider the VR3 and I am curious to see the new Nitek X from Dive Rite.
