Viagra was developed as a blood pressure med, not a pulmonary med. It reduces blood pressure, this is why EMTs ask those who may need nitro if they have taken viagra or another ED med specifically, as well as taking pressure and having a protocol for administration with BP being above 100. Nitro on top of viagra may cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure.

no it is fine.. he has a thread for it over there too. Plus we need things like this to talk about during the winter.

There also would be an added benifit.
Viagra makes you see things with a blue tint, so even in dirty water you would see blue waters.

I think I'll stick to Viagra on my surface intervals... if I ever get a chance to need it.

Viagra does have potent effects on the pulmonary circulation, and it is a cheap (relatively) method of treating patients with a condition known as pulmonary hypertension. As such it opens up blood vessels that were either closed or not delivering blood to alveoli ( gas exchange units in the lung). This is great for treating the elevated blood pressure in the lung but also creates, unpredictably, a condition known as "shunting", ie altering delivery of blood and therefore gas delivery. In terms of diving therefore it does effect not only gas uptake and off gassing, but clearly effects the passage of bubbles through the lungs, which may be enhanced.
I would suggest not diving with viagra

Would this mean I wouldn't have to clip on my safety sausage and finger spool any more?:D

I just spat coffee on my keyboard and I blame you :rofl3:

And what was it you found funny about Baracuda's comment?

You must know him pretty well to choke on your coffee. Or is that a heritary problem from those from Guelph, Ontario?

It must have been about leaving his finger spool behind that got you. :)

Baracuda,
How's that new drysuit working out? Be careful you don't go around poking holes in it.

The stuff works great for keeping my blood pressure under control.
Now the only problem I have is that I don't have enough skin to close my eyes....
