for a few days and was wondering about diving then. I would assume someone somewhere has to be open but how are the diving conditions? Is it worth bringing my scuba gear?
I guess I should have mentioned I am interested in the coastal areas.
Thanks,
Gary

Diving in January can be great. I have been offshore on January 1st where the water was 68 on the bottom and the visibility was great. The weather is more unpredictable, which can cause the charter to be blown out. Discovery has a 6 pack, the Captain's Lady, which only needs 4 to run. The boat has a great heater and an enclosed cabin so the air temperatures won't be a problem. In the winter, you have to take your chances.

Aquatic safaris (aquaticsafaris.com) has a trip booked on January 23rd with open spots.

it's a crap shoot, but diving offshore in jan can be totally great! bring your stuff if it's not too big an imposition, and give it a try. the worse that can happen is a day at the beach instead of a day diving, and that's not too bad.
