We've tried baby beach and couldn't see anything
Where do you have to go exactly. Do you need to go past the breakers
Don't mind diving down

We usually go out through the small inlet by the main beach and do the area to the right, all the way over to the other tip of the horseshoe near Roger's beach past the big inlet. Based on our experience, you get relatively calm surface conditions when the wind is blowing from NNE.

Inside the cove, to the right of the inlet is good for surface snorkeling. The key is to get as far from the beach as possible where the thrashing around goes on.

So do we swim over the breakers until the water calms down or do you need to go only on a calm day

Best thing to do is, once you figure out the wave rhythm, picking the 'right moment' and diving out through the inlet. A calm day would be preferable, but you might run out of time waiting for that, so ...

Anyway, feel kinda bad for sort of hijacking this thread, so if you'd really like to get some more specific info - on other great spots as well - just pm me, OK?

Wondering if one could add to this list by including all inclusive accommodation's as well. We have been Akumal MX (ABR) the last three years in a row and looking for something similar but different. Thanks!

Most places with a large AI presence are generally not known to have good snorkeling. Roatan has a few AI type places, but nothing on the scale or with amenities and service levels of the resorts in Mexico, the DR or Jamaica. For those able to visit, select resorts in Cuba may be an option.

Many of the more highly thought of Caribbean snorkeling destinations like Bonaire, St. John (plus the BVI and rest of USVI), Cayman Islands, Curacao (though there is a mediocre Breezes here), Belize, etc...do not really offer much in terms of AI lodging options.

Another vote for St John. It's just so easy and every spot is different. Plus if you happen to travel in winter when the winds can be up, there is always a bay that is calmer as they face all directions. Plus you can add in a trip to The Baths on BVI which is very different, and heck I am actually became a fan of Sapphire Beach on St Thomas and it is like 5 minutes from the ferry dock that takes you to St John. Super easy walk in snorkeling that is pretty decent. Basically you can do so much island hoping and all locations are a little different, that's what makes it unique.
