Dive babble all day long
In another thread, @Zef was talking about his Belgium dive club which seemed very different from my dive club. It got me thinking that I really want to know more about other dive clubs & that this could make for an interesting topic.
So...
1. Where is your dive club & what is it called? Wanna share a link to it?
2. What does it offer (e.g., social events, presentations, buddies, equipment loan, etc.)?
3. What do you enjoy most about it? Anything more it could offer?
4. How much does it cost?
5. How many members are in your dive club?
Here are my answers:
1. Where is your dive club & what is it called? Wanna share a link to it?
NYC Sea Gypsies in New York, NY
Web site
Facebook
Meetup
2. What does it offer (e.g., social events, presentations, buddies, equipment loan, etc.)?
I love the camaraderie & being able to hang out both above & below the water with other people who share my passion. I'm really happy with what it offers. I suppose I wouldn't hate it if the club sponsored me to go diving all around the world. Aside from that, I don't know that it could offer me more.
4. How much does it cost?
$20 per year
5. How many members are in your dive club?
250+ paid members

- A free monthly presentation often from a well known speaker
- A free monthly event where you can showcase your photography or view other divers' images
- A monthly dinner at an international restaurant
- Social events like happy hours once or twice a month
- A holiday party
- Club dives including local boat, beach, & lake diving as well as an Intro to North East Diving day & dive trips out of the area
- A chance to find short-term & long-term buddies (there's always at least 1 diver going out every weekend looking for a buddy)
- A public Facebook group as well as a member-only Google group
- A monthly newsletter
