Hey everyone, I was watching this video of this crazy lookin' creature and for the life of me I have no idea what is. Can anyone ID this critter by any chance?

Thanks,
Dave

A type of angler fish, all mouth, monkfish?

I think you're correct DumpsterDive. Unfortunately, for the fish, it's very tasty to eat. It's has a very mild flavor, and is known as "The poor man's lobster".

Looks like pictures I've seen of a Stonefish, but not one half buried in the sand. Another fine creature I can do without meeting.

I figured some kind of angler fish because I saw the "fish lure" but it also looks like a shark so I wasn't sure what to make of this critter. Thanks all for posting.

It's always important to say what part of the world in which it was seen.

If it were Philippines environs, reminds me of what the locals called Alligator Fish, but I've never seen them moving.

Where was the video made?

Agree with DD and LowDrag. Definitely some kind of anglerfish. You can see the "lure". Bizarre looking, but they all are.
