I am uncertain exactly what I have, here. This outwardly looks like a Scubapro G250HP. The adjustment knob is the same, it is lighter than a G250 and the “internals” look like a 250HP, but it has a metal air barrel (is that normal?) and the “pebbled” cover indicates it is a G250; although it has the seat saver functionality.

Thoughts from the experts?

Thanks!!

I can't speak to that exact reg, but it's worth keeping in mind regs of that era which were owned by knowledgeable divers are very unlikely to be a "stock" configuration (even if it may seem like a nominal little tweak, various "compatible" parts, whether officially or not, have created a few Frankensteins that may be difficult to identify but may, and disclaimer can't comment on that specific reg, be better than stock regs of that era..).
(P.S. I've been confused by a different configuration of parts a few years ago but only a best educated guess on that specific reg...).

Agreed. Someone may have swapped out the air barrel, but what confuses me is I have never previously seen the “pebbled” G250 cover with the seat saver……and I have seen and rebuilt a whole bunch of 250’s.

Isn’t the 250HP a little smaller than the original 250? I really can’t remember.

my guess is it’s someone’s “improved” 250, it could be a barrel from a G500??

the good news is you can probably fit the upgrade adjuster knob kit into it and get rid of the pneumatic one.

From from the 1996 catalog, showing the pebbled cover with metal G250 adjustment knob.
No mention of the seat saver feature in this catalog.

It's original.
Maybe that model hasn't been sold in the US, I don't have the US 2000 Catalog.
In Europe it was sold as G250 Pro, so it's the predecessor of the G250 HP.
The PDF is from the German SP Catalog 2000

Thank you. That makes the most sense.

likely not. That case is basically the early G250 HP case, which will not take the updated adjuster. I have an HP from that era....

honestly, aside from needing the special tuning tool, there really isn't a problem with the old adjuster....

That’s what the little spacer is for in the upgrade kit, I can take a picture later.

I'd like to see it...

From my experience, and validated during the @rsingler workshop, the "c-clip" of the "newer" models, which is needed to secure the assembly does not work for the style that needs the larger clip shown here...

Curious as to what you have experienced...
