What kind of valve is this ?

Saw this on eBay and wondered what kind of valve it is and what is it for ?

What caught my eye was the valve, it just looked different.



What is the brass knob on the one end ? It is not a valve.
The other end is made that way with a slight seam going down the end.
You can see it here and blow it up to a larger size.

Looks to me like a 60's vintage U S Divers J valve that someone took out the reserve mechanism and stuffed something in the hole.

No, all the USD and Voit valves had a plug on the side opposite the J lever.
