Things that make me happy:

1. Getting in the water to start a dive
2. Talking about diving
3. A cup of coffee with a drop of Bailey's
4. Playing the clarinet
5. A novel or a movie in which the characters get to evolve
6. When a friend calls, PM or email me
7. Shopping for dive gear
8. Pub crawling in Halifax
9. A dog that comes to me wagging its tail

-Life
-My loved ones (parents, Jim, Jim's brats, friends, relatives)
-The way my dog gets excited when I come through the door, even if I've only been gone for ten minutes, and the way he shoves his head under my mouse arm when he thinks I'm not paying enough attention to him.
-The tremendous opportunity I've had to pursue education as far as I'm willing to go with it.
-Going on that perfect dive where the conditions are just right and life is erupting everywhere
-Going on a dive on the worst weekend of the year, having no vis, having the surge make you sick, and the surf slams you and fills you and your gear full of sand, barely crawling out at the end of the dive and going "YEEEEAAAAAAHHHH BABY!!!!!!!!"
-Seeing my first shark while scuba diving and being awed by it rather than afraid of it.
-Getting scratched up by lobsters and sea urchins so that for the next week of work I can feel a twinge of pain on my palms and say "Yeahhh... I remember that one; he was a fighter!".
-Leaving my ATM card IN the machine three separate times, having people turn them into authorities the first two times, and having a woman chase me down in the parking lot the third time. We so often focus on how many bad people there are out there that we forget the bad people are vastly outnumbered.
-Having a crummy job that finally allows me to make enough money to buy my mom and dad nice things once in a while. They've certainly done enough for me.
-The sound Jim makes when he laughs through his regulator.
-The sound Jim made threatening me after I pushed him off the pier on a very cold Monterey morning.
-Sunsets over large bodies of water
-Hugely commercial, overdone holidays with bright colors, lights, obnoxious music, and enough cheesy knick knacks to start a Halmark store. I love it all!! (except Valentine's Day)
-Getting a rose that has been spray painted black for Valentine's Day because Jim knows I hate the holiday.
-The first dive with a brand new piece of equipment.

I'd put in everything that makes me happy, but I don't know what the size limit on the server is. Heh heh.

Ummm.... :)

Seeing flowers in my garden
Pretty fish with amazing colors
the amazing variety of quirks of creation
warm water and great visibility
warm feet (on SO) to warm my frosty toes on
hearing "you are my most specialist mama and my favorite"
watching my parents kiss, hold hands and giggle like newlyweds after 40 years.....

and taking this time to realize how much I have to be thankful for and how often it gets lost in the clutter. Thanks for helping me to remember!

Cool, we got 25 posts. It made me happy to read about all your happy things.

I started this thread because I wondered if the SB denizens would be quicker to post their complaints or their joys. Apparently the complaints have it....The thread entitled "What Irks You" has 166 posts! Are we really 6 times more likely to be negative than positive, or is it just a coincidence?

All you need is family!

Hmm... I'm pretty good at complaining... I don't know.

The first signs of fall/winter after a long hot dry summer.

Walking out of work at twilight and watching the sky get dark. Watching the city light up with the change.

Having the road in front of my work lead right to the capital building, which I can see surrounded by palm trees, and the capital gardens with every variety of tree and rose.
The way rain smells and sounds.
Seeing the pictures after a great dive.
the Daily Show!
Reading my old journal entries and laughing at what a melodramatic dork I was.
The first time I play a song and it sounds pretty good.
Decorating the house for each season/holiday
Driving my stick shift!
My goofy-cool co-worker who insists on saying "your mission, if you choose to accept it.." before every favor she asks. I love it.
Learning to cook and having the last five recipes I've used come out perfectly.
Pet harbor seals
Halloween costumes
San Francisco street performers
A great Terry Pratchett, Christopher Moore, Neil Gaiman, Tess Gerritsen, or Chuck Palahniuk book.
