Just head offshore a few miles and pick a rig.
Varies from day-to-day, but generally anything more than six miles out is reasonable.

Archman, given your somewhat British type of caustic wit coupled with what is very evidently a great breadth of oceanic knowledge, I think it would be an absolute holiday to dive with you.

I've seen cucumber poo anywhere from 25 feet at Looe Key to 9,000 feet in the north central Gulf.
