My best guess is that it is some kind of mutated barrel sponge, because the tissues appear to be very similar. If nobody can name it I'm going to send a tissue sample in to the lab.

I had a wide angle lens on, so the close up isn't so hot. The flashlight is about 8" long.

I'm not possitive, but it looks like a scout.:D
 
It looks to me to be Scattered Pore Rope Sponge (Aplysina fulva) It is in an area that has a lot of current like Cozumel I would say! And a UK Light?
 
Or perhaps a finger sponge (squeeze it to see if it emits a black dye).
