Hi all. Have the good fortune to be going to Manila for a week's business, and want to spend 3 days before doing some diving. Have never been diving in the Philippines -- guess my best option is Puerto Galera, but even there I'm lost for where to go -- any tips/ contacts please. I'll be by myself this time so want to go somewhere where I'll bump into other people to hang out with. Thanks.

Hotel Atlantis.

Beautiful property. Ace dive op.

We dove 5, sometimes 6 a day. Always a night dive. Did some 90 minute BT's after they got to know us.

Every dive was just spectacular. The place is a bargain, the restaurant will floor you.

Small Lalaguna is the next beach down from Sabang. All the amenities but none of the mosquitoes. Asia Divers have the biggest op there. Check other thread for suggestions.

Geoff_H:
if Matt is reading this.

I know that Matt the manager of Atlantis goes through the Philippines Forum, but that's about it.

The resort (and area) is not marketed to North American divers to any real extent. "We" won't go dive places we haven't "been told to go". If it isn't in the glossy SCUBA magazine, you can't drag an American diver to go. If it isn't advertised in the magazine... it isn't getting a splashy write up.

They don't seem to be under-booked. There are so many great dive destinations that North Americans don't know about... some in our own Caribbean back yard.

Shhhh! Don't tell anyone about http://www.wikimapia.org/#y=13521171&x=120974321&z=18&l=0&m=a&v=2 (the satellite view)

Excellent all -- thanks a lot for the tips -- will choose one of the two -- 5 weeks and counting....
