Hello to all of you

My Girlfriend and I are planing our first trip down south ever,This April
I never took the plane in my life but, she did many times for work.
We are both newly certified Less 25 dives each.

I dove in Atlantic City Nj last summer and find out I was sea Sick real bad. The boat ride took 50min just to get to the dive spot and the sea was apperently calm :11doh:

We are looking to for a trip with some great possible dives. I don't want to take the boat for 50min to dive. Less then 30min would be great. Shore dive would be even better. Since I am not the kind of guy who will dare take chimical Pils to dive. Im more natural medicine type.

My gilrfriend dosen't what to go to Mexico

I was thinking of Cuba, turks and caicos, Bonaire, Cayman Islands or even Roatan Island.
We are open to all suggestions since, we have no Experience whatsoever in travelling, speacially in caribbean.

Thanks guys

Go to the Caymans. Short boat rides, shore diving, no malaria worries. And GREAT diving.

First Cuba is off limits no travel zone I would go to Key's short boat trips easy dives no current and you can hit a couple of the Keys get different types of diving there are some nice wrecks and it is cheaper than the other locations Bonaire would be my other choice plenty of shore dive and great conditions

I can go to Cuba since I am Canadian so no problem there Only need to know if worthed for diving.

any hotels recommandation for Caymans.

Where Key's ? I never heard of that place before.

We don't mind current we are use to it since we only dive in the St-lawrence River where current is always prensent.

Thanks for the fast answers

I have a group going to Bonaire 1st week in May if you are interested.Leaving from NYC area.PM if interested.

I would consider Bonaire or Curacao.

Since you mentioned Atlantic City I assume you are located in the eastern part of Canada. There are direct flights to both Bonaire and Curacao from Newark, New Jersey.

Assuming you can get a direct flight to Newark you could get to either Bonaire or Curacao on Continental Airlines with only one connection.

The boat rides are short on both Bonaire and Curacao and the shore diving is excellent in both places.

There are more after activities available in Curacao than there are in Bonaire.

Both Bonaire and Curacao are out of the hurricane belt.

I'm planning a trip to Bonaire sometime this summer and am considering staying at either the Plaza or Harbour Village.

Another option for you is Aruba... very easy diving (little current, good ops). I took a few trips there when I was first starting to dive and thought it was ideal. I liked the idea of diving with a shop since I was inexperienced and the depths are good for newbies. The beaches on Aruba are fantastic, there are lots of great places to eat, and the casinos are fun at night.

Also consider the type of diving you want to do on the trip.. walls, wrecks, depth, etc. Good luck.

Bonaire is the best bet for non-stop easy diving. With scores of shore sites, you never have to set foot on a boat if you don't want to.

We stay at Captain Don's Habitat when we go - although there are many good places to stay. Captain Don's house reef is so nice that you could spend the whole week on that one reef. Equipment lockers are right down by the water. You gear up, take a dozen or so strides out to the end of the dock, and drop in. It doesn't get any better than that.
