I carry two cutting tools - both should be easily accessable by one hand, either hand, at all times. A knife needs to have a serrated blade, and the top part of the blade needs to have a line cutter and a blunt tip (to use as a pry or screwdriver). You should drill practice accessing, and using, your kinfe or shears with your off-hand.

Most dive equipment companies offer a version: knife

A set of shears needs to be of medical use quality and the blades need to be sharp: shears, z-knife, Hog knife, and placement options.
