    Close, but not exact.

    I would like any and all posters to simply indicate if they consider themselves to be a dive professional or not. This entire issue is all centered on how they feel about themselves. Nobody is going to check. Doing so just makes it easier for me (and others) to reply appropriately.

    Can you (re) explain why you think knowing a posters "training association" creds are important? Why should anyone be worried about someones training creds? I train people every week at curling. I am watching the Olympic curling events on TV.

    I often include a "clarification" challenge in my responses. Many (most, all) questions on SB are way too vague for me.

    So I often reply with a generic hand waving YMMV reply along with a request for more specific details.

    If you want warm fuzzy feelings, then I am just a vacation diver.

    It is really quite simple. I like newbies and don't like seeing them get their first scar tissue. Thus, I pussyfoot with my dealings with an ''unknown" member. That approach is completely off the mark for someone new who considers him/herself to be a dive professional.

    I'm attempting to make it easy for me to be nice to others. I understand that this is a difficult concept.

    Pussyfoot? vs sledge hammer?

    Just be clear about the scope of your advice and probe a bit.

    I always base my response on the clarity / information provided in the OP.

    Please define pussyfoot. What does a post look like that isn’t pussyfooting?

    As a newbie, I appreciated @lowviz "s way of communicating with me. I don't know if I would call it pussyfooting but it was informative and supportive.

    If I had been a dive pro I would have expected a different response--and deserved one.

    I don't.

    Being a socratic learner, I can appreciate that much can be learned through discussion. I see the original post as nothing more than an opener.

    @Dizzi Lizzi HA!

    Yes, I had just had my fingers burned on a thread and was proceeding on little cat feet. I appreciate that input.
