It's been pointed out to me that my Catalina Dive shirt has a typo in it. I guess that means I have to show up to buy another one.

I'm in. Reservation made today..:14:

Okay so, my understanding with the package is that you shoot out Friday night and check-in, correct?

How much are air fills? Where do we get them? Sorry for the questions, just wanna plan for everything. My wife and I would really like to go.

Thanks anyone,
Gabe

The package Headhunter posted is for a Friday checkin, Sunday checkout, although if you're trying to stay longer (or shorter) you should call the hotel, or try another hotel if you prefer something else, it's just a offering, many people don't stay overnight at all.

For fills, there is a fill station within a few yards of the dive park entrance. A fill is currently $6 I believe. If you want Nitrox you have to go into town which is walkable but not fun with a tank.

Thanks a ton Ted! I was thinking the answer would be quick but was pleasently surprised at how quick! I've just gotta call my tattoo artist and cancel my appointment for the 1st, then me and the misses will be making reservations! Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Dude, I cannot imagine trying to walk into town carrying a tank. Nothing wrong with air. :)

Is anyone else thinking about just coming over for the day on Saturday? Events have conspired to keep me out of the water, and I really need to get wet.

I just wanted to post an update for those who have not made their plans yet.

Many rooms at the Seaport Village Inn are now booked.

It will now be up to you to find your "roomates" for the following pricing.

If you don't mind sharing the bed with someone, you can still get rooms for $115 each for double occupancy. The rooms with 2 beds that we were getting for $115 are now spoken for.

You can get a suite with 4 to a room and the price is still $115 per person, but you have to come up with all 4 people. At this late in the game, they are no longer filling those rooms "one at a time".

You can get your own room and not share it with anyone for $170.

All of these packages still include the following:

  • Rountrip Transportion to Catalina on the Catalina Express
  • Shuttle on Arrival and Departure
  • Accomodations on Friday and Saturday night
  • Hot Breakfast each morning
  • Champagne on evening of arrival
  • Shuttle to and from the flag pole at Casino Point
  • A place to rinse our gear at the end of the day
  • Complementary baggage storage for the day of departure

Alternatively, you could book your room at the Hermosa, the Atwater or one of the many other hotels on Catalina and just make all of you other arrangements separately.

I plan on leaving the Long Beach terminal at 10:00 am on Friday and returning on Sunday on the 7:30pm boat.

I may do a couple of dives on Friday and look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

While many people will spend the weekend, it should be mentioned that those who just do this as a day trip will probably make up half of the group. So if you are thinking about just coming out for the day you'll be in good company.

I'm looking forward to our 1st Post Wrinkles Sunday Boat Dive on Catalina!

This worked out really well in San Diego and I imagine that people are really going to enjoy doing a boat dive on Sunday before going home.

Catalina Island is where some of our most interesting stories are born.

Divin' Dave and I are booked for the weekend. Plan on a night dive Friday night and ending the weekend with one or two beach dives Sunday morning. Had a great time in Catalina last time, wouldn't miss this weekend at such a bargain price!

I'm getting pretty peeved with the staff over at Seaport Village, although I have been very polite and have yet to lose my cool with the reservation lady.

I left two messages last week, trying to book my room. Each call, as soon as I get to the reservation lady and mention that it's part of the group ScubaBoard package deal, she says I need to speak to the manager because she can't handle any group sales. The manager never seems to be in, and she has (thus far) refused to help me, saying she can't handle any group sales, only the manager can. She has offered to have him call me back, so I left my number twice last week, and have yet to receive a call.

I'm on hold now, because I'm getting the same line as last week, but apparently today is the manager's day off, so I was first told to call back tomorrow...

*sigh*

Update: She took my name and put me down for a room, but I still have to speak to the manager tomorrow to finalize things and get me on whatever ferry slots are still available. It's better than nothing, I suppose...
