Don't know why this sticks in my head, but I thought XD max was 512? Course that could be old info. And I think you have to proprietary for all the functions of the Oly 5050.

And, frankly, with a 2GB card, backup to XD almost becomes one of those things of the past! I have had to go to XD only once with a 1GB. YMMV

Speed is good and there isn't much difference in price on the quality cards...

The 1 GB xD card has been announced but is scheduled for release in early 2005.

Does anyone know if the write speed on CF actually matters or not like a 40x compared to a 4x?
The short answer is yes. And no.

If you shoot single frame JPEGs then you will find no difference in your SHOT-TO-SHOT speed.

If you shoot single frame RAW or multiple RAW / JPEGs then yes you will notice a difference between a 4x card and a 40x card. You will also notice the difference when you transfer a whole lot of files from the card using a card reader.
