I have mulled getting the card for a while now for similar reasons. Especially since some liveaboards now let you dive solo if you carry the card (and have the gear).
Congratulations! As some have said, after nearly 50 years of solo diving I could probably teach the course, but it might be a good idea for me to finally get the c-card if operators are beginning to honor it. Fortunately the ones here on Catalina already let me dive solo, and I generally prefer a good local buddy if I'm diving in locations I'm unfamiliar with.
