Heading to Coz 2nd week of Feb and was wondering who are the better dive operators on Coz. I have heard some bad stories and some good. I have not been there in 10 yrs. Also any recomendations for hotels on the water that are in the "middle of the road" as far as price.

Thanks!

We just retured from our stay at Cozumel REsort and diving with Dive Paradise(I wrote it under Paradise Divers- Nitrogen Narcosis). See my trip reports here. If you go with DP, use the fast boats and request Moises. WE had dives as long as 64 minutes. Everything else is in trip report. Happy Holidays and hope you have a great trip

Welcome to Scubaboard. Try using the search function to pare down your question. Personally I would recommend Aldora Divers. I would also recommend the Plaza Las Glorias for the middle of the road hotel.

Just got back from 9 days in Coz .... we use Papa Hoggs and stay at Villablanca - which is across the road from the dive op .... reasonable & convenient .....

I've been staying at Plaza Las Glorias and diving with Dive Paradise twice this year and had a great time. You can even do some decent shore dives from PLG... Have fun, wish I was going back soon.

Dive Paradize, fast boats ( it's just us - don't really like lots' of people under the water ). Brisas - aka Cozumel Resort, aka who-knows-what-name-they-will-have-in-the-morning.

Just landed in Newark 1.5 hour. Report tommorow, hopfully.
One thing - it's was pretty cold down there for 3 days. And constant northen wind..

Merry Xmas .

PLG and Cozumel Resort--formerly Brisas are great locations and are decent facilities. Just depends on what you are expecting. I would probably go with Cozumel Resort over PLG but PLG is on the beach and the other is across the street but they have the largest pool on the island. PLG is getting a bit run down as they have not remodeled in quite a few years. Heard many sad stories about problems at PLG, more so than good ones.

Thank You all for the good info! 1 month to a week of diving!!

Caribe Blu (formerly Lorena, more formerly La Perla) is a nice little hotel in the moderate price range. It's between the road and the water, so its ocean view rooms (they all are) rooms are very much that, and it's close to town. The on site dive op, Blue Angel, consistently gets good reviews, although I've never used them. Enjoy your trip!
