Hey all, went of Datura @ noon, vis was ok, nothing great, went to 2nd reef. Saw (2 Squid ?), I think an octopus home (big pile of shells out front, nobody was home) and on the way in, 2 fish going head to head with open mouths (Haven't seen before), kinda like what you see with hippos when fighting. All in all, mellow dive. Nice school of sardine size surrounding me coming in.

Anyway, I ran into a snorkeler out there and she said that cuddlefish aren't around here ? and what I saw where squid, anybody no if thats true.

Cuddlefish aren't around here. You saw squid.

That's cool when they do that.

Yeah, thats the squid. However, the 2 fish going head to head open mouth like that where seemingly bigger than that picture provided. The had stripes like that, but the stripes seem to be mostly apparent on the head and not so much the body. I dont know maybe I saw the same type but more adult ? Thanks for pics Howard.

was at LBTS yesterday for 2 dives---5am and a morning dive. During the morning dive saw a bunch of squid--3 turtles, a tarpon, and a couple nurse sharks..it was a great couple of dives...anyone interested in going out one evening this week--say 7pm?

FYI No parking at the beach end of Datura after 9pm so time your dive or park on the other side of Datura & enjoy your dive
I think we met yesterday-lobster snare?
Have fun
Deb

yes we did..thanks again for finding that snare. I went straight to the shop after I left and got a clip. won't make that mistake again.
I know you said you mostly solo dive and are doing macro work, but there are a small group of us doing a night/twilight dive to pompano dropoff tomorrow. It's with ElRays in Pompano.

Did you make it to BHB on Sunday?

They are not having a meetup dive tomorrow night. The meetup is for the nitrox class, but they are not diving.

You may want to check the parking situation before hand. There is a group going out in Dania tomorrow at 8:30.

Good for him! That's a lot of swimming, I did twice on Saturday, had to purchase speedo during SI. Long swims + surf trunks+ salt water = a lot of waddeling afterword.

That's not who you were out with on Saturday when I saw you was it?
