Trying not to offend anyone but seriously, Is there anyone on these forums planning a trip this week that did not follow the weather and needed someone to update them. With my investments in Florida and Roatan i watch the storms quite a bit but never feel the need to shout out to folks as i figure folks on Scubaboard have internet and can look themselves. Seriously, there have been tropical storms that can mess up a vacation but there has not been a hurricane in over 12 years and this Mathew will not be much else than a rainstorm . BUT LET ME SAY NOW,THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF A HURRICANE IN THE BA ISLANDS JULY 21 2011, so better be prepared

In your collective experience, at what point does SOSA cancel flights from SAP-(LCE)-UTL; what weather are they willing to fly thru? I head to UDC next Friday (Oct 1) for 4 months and am flying via the above routing. I sent Morgan's Travel (where I booked my local itinerary) a question but haven't heard anything back yet... I've checked the forecasts and haven't seen anything major but constant thunderstorms throughout the week.

Thanks in advance!

Irrational as it may be, it happens. People were arriving at my hotel in Coz as I left in advance of a Cat-5 forecast for a direct hit. I asked them if they knew? Answer: "What hurricane...? :silly:

The next day as I was having lunch at the airport, my brother called to tell me that he'd seen on the news that people were flying in unaware. I told him, "Yep, I met some as I left, but I got my boarding pass and bags checked. The following day he swerved south but it was the prudent thing to do.

I don't know if I would cancel a planned trip or not, unless my plans included connections once in Honduras - then would, but for anyone whose resort is evacuating and closing - choices may be limited? I don't know? :idk:

If you know of alternate choices for travelers who don't want to cancel, you might offer the info?

Actually as long as flights dont cancel i would not look for alternate plans for a storm over a hundred miles away with 50MPH winds. I would bet that diving will go on as usual, They were diving 2 days after mitch which actually was a strong hurricane

Well, the above info is that Anthony's is evacuating, so that poster needs room & boat. If you can accommodate him, he might like that. Yet another reason for this discussion thread.

Heck, I bet CCV or FI are still operating, and of course with this storm on the South I am sure many of the shops on the Northside are open for business even if AKR is not. Would i acomodate?? Hell No, I do not play well with other gringos

Based on what I have read and emailing with mike....flights should happen and the water might be a bit hazy for the next couple days with all the run off :( but Mike promised plenty of Flor de Cana :) I am staying @ the Reef House.
