I didn't think anything could be more annoying than the rebreather diver I recently encountered whose unit kept up a loud and constant BEEP BEEP BEEPing for an entire 40 minute wreck dive... even a few decks worth of metal did nothing to dull the noise. But apparently I was wrong.

I'm not sure which is worse here: the concept itself, the noise, or the 1980s ski scene color scheme.

I can't even formulate a response.

Let me try....

Not sold in stores, available only thru this special TV offer. Call now and we will double your savings with not one but 2 of these life savers, one for you and one for a loved on. And that's not all folks, for today only we will include a free color coordinated tank banger to increase your noise making pleasure to new heights....

Seriously 1) The auto inflate is scary, 2) That is simply the most annoying sound I have every heard this side of fingernails on a chalk board

An amazingly stupid idea!

They are exhibiting at DEMA and offering the unit at a show-special price of $199 for anybody who is curious....

That's really the best part of DEMA, at least for me. I attend every ten years or so, when necessary. I always spend time looking for the most absurd stuff. This would have made my Top 10 list.

A number of "things" appear at DEMA in beta/proto stage. Some are there just to have their patents marketed.

Some are just odd ideas that make economic sense - if but to no one else- to the financial backers.

:hm: How many I-Phone 4 housings were on display... with the I-5 "coming soon" ?

Yikes.

Not for me.Auto inflate is just waiting to go wrong.

I'm actually working on something and just pray it will not get that sort of response if I ever get it to the stage of getting it on sale.

I would love to know who put up the finacial for this. Hmm and the guys who pitched it. I need those types of skills!!

I'm sure the folks that put it together have the best of intentions and the fact that we all seem to find the noise incredibly annoying tells me that they have succeeded at least in calling attention to the diver that might be having a problem.

I just think the risks of an an auto inflating bc are considerable, it would need a LOT of testing before I'd think the potential benefit would outweigh the risk.

thats if the auto inflate is a press down and hold... thats certainly an issue
if it had a built in ascent rate monitor and auto deflated as well ;-)... no more fears of the auto inflate?

Yeah. Just hope it doesn't do a deflate on a wall dive and get locked up in that mode. Can you say "rocket drop to oblivion boys and girls?' Good buddy procedures completely negate the need for something this dangerous. And as a solo diver, no way I'd trust it.

The alarm sound is like someone screaming in fear of dying
