FYI, your post is most valuable to people like me who don't do much business online. My PP wouldn't accept my cc issued here so I don't use PP at all now. If I do in the future, I should use G&S only.

I mean.. I tried. I did send payment in full but I did it through PayPal "goods and services" which means I'm protected for up to 6 months. I have already requested a refund from PayPal and noted all my dealings with the seller.

Since all this started this morning the seller seems to have closed up shop.. I just wanted to share my experience to hopefully save someone from making a mistake and highlight the value of not using "friends and family" where you're not protected from stuff like this.

Zelle is the same way.. it's same as cash, you can never get your money back that way.

@BoltSnap if you ever need someone to facilitate an online purchase through feel free to reach out... happy to help anyone from being ripped off!

man… I refuse any buyer that uses good and services…. Also generally just prefer local deals in cash whenever possible.

Sold an iPhone and buyer insisted. Said it was the wrong model and forced the refund through PayPal. Instead of returning the phone sent back a box with rocks that weighed the same. PayPal took the buyers side due to the stupid good and service thing. So yeah, never again.

There isn’t any service that I’m aware of that isn’t near blindly tipped towards one party. So as a seller, who has been scammed by a buyer, I’ll near exclusively favor the methods that protect me unfortunately.

Good to know that PayPal G&S is the way to go. Any info on Venmo? PayPal bought Venmo about 10 years ago. I've used it for years, but have never tried it with sketchy-sounding online-only type stuff, so not sure how it would go if things went sideways.

I don't know about Venmo, but what I do is use a calculator to tell me what the fees would be and just send that. Seller wanted $310 for both transmitters, I had to send $321.86 to cover PP fees.

To me it's worthwhile cheap insurance. This one time I'm covered will pay back 50x what I've spent in PP fees over the years.

That sucks... there are truly ****** people in this world. Honestly the same thing could of happened to you on ebay or any of the other platforms though.. not just with PP.

Hypothetically speaking, how would you know if someone paid you via G&S if the total was what you asked for?

This will be the 1st real dick that I've dealt with selling scuba stuff, and it's partially my fault as I should have known better.
