Whiskey Wreck and AL Point Jetties 5-24-6 Dive Reports

Had a family emergency come up so I can't make it tonight, thanks for the invite. The Whiskey Wreck was great though. Dove it yesterday with my wife. I found a pole spear lying on the bottom. Great dive. SuPrBuGmAn you were right about the shower and boardwalk, that was easy diving.

Whiskey Wreck and AL Point Jetties 5-24-6 Dive Reports

It was great running into some divers that I have seen on here so often. My son had some problems getting his ears to clear. We had terrible vis 0 to 5 feet. So with my son with me, considering his lack of experience, I decided to call the dive. I have to get some more practice on this beach...

    Oceanic Omega.... durable?

Hi, I have been told by many people that the Oceanic Omega is one of the most durable and dependable second stage regs on the market. What do the statistics that Oceanic has compiled reflect on this? I ask because I just put a Omega on for a octo reg. due to these reccomendations. What do you...

    misc

This is a great discussion. The post on the Destin Jetties is great. I have been trying for years to get that information from someone. Lots of people have been but nobody could ever give me details necessary for planning a dive. Thanks so much guys.

    Sopranos

What about his conversation with his lawyer and the D.A.(??), they were trying to establish whether Junior was in his right mind or not, if he was faking it he was VERY convincing. That dude has lost his marbles no doubt. But if it was intentional Junior had bad timing. Did you guys here the...

    Sopranos

Inconclusive, but it was not Carmela. I definitely saw a "what could have been" theme running in the dream sequences. Maybe there will have to be some sort of internal problem that Tony has to solve before he can wake up, maybe finding his missing wallet will be finding his true self or...

A career as a dive instructor - realistic or idealistic?

Money doesn't buy happiness............ hungry is usually unhappy and money will buy food. As long as there are no signifigant others, or children to consider getting by isn't too hard, but when you start adding those other responsiblities feasiblity becomes nill. My advice, don't get...

    The Dive Buddy's Creed

well let's face it, unless your buddy has already been proven an asset they are still a possible risk. But when a buddy is necessary I like the old cave diver approach, "any diver can call any dive anytime without any questions". Whoever I may be diving with my only rule is that if I don't feel...

Diving past 130' on air with a single 80?

My concern would be gas consumption rate. I suck air as though my life depends on it. An Al100 lasts me about 20 min on a dive to around 80-90 feet. With my gas consumption rates I would get to about 180' only to look at my gauge and say "holy crap, I was supposed to be on the boat 150 psi ago".

    Engineering

here is some advice: go into the power industry, I just started at a nuclear power station as a mechanical engineer. Everyone in this industry is old and ready to retire, which means that 50 to 60% of the workforce will have to be replaced in the next ten years. translation: good opportunity...

    date set for Oriskany sinking

I can't wait, I hope they really mean that it can be dove in a few days, and I hope they really sink it on the current schedule, that way I can dive it when I am on vacation with my family in Destin. How many shops will be running boats? Does anyone have any personal reccomendations on shops...

    No certificate

Has anyone else ever noticed that you have to be as precise as a biblical scholar speaking at an Atheist convention on this board? There is less tolerance (meant in a mechanical design sense) in discussing SCUBA than acutally exists in practicing SCUBA.

    No certificate

Well, granted that those people who engage in activities that require a greater amount of skill and training usually need it for the level of participation in their chosen sport, ie. racecar driving, sky diving, catching poisonous reptiles, etc. My point is that SCUBA is an inherently dangerous...

Quote:Comparing cave to open water rec is comparing apples and oranges. Commercial and military pilots all get a similar degree of training but I would be willing to bet that percentage wise more pilots are killed in jet fighter accidents than in commercial airliners accidents I didn't know...
