Air tuning knob stuck, how do I fix without breaking it

Speaking of OR Nira masks....'what is supposed' to happen when you slide the red/predive - green/dive slider? I've been using the mask on a very shallow dive and nothing happens when i slide it back/forth? Very familiar with OTS/AGA....first experience with these (older, very older) OceanReef...

    Puck Question

Thanks....He tells me it hit 3000 on his first tank. Second time it briefly showed 3000 but then dropped to 72. It now shows 72 whether or not it's connected to an air source. Thanks for your help....

    Puck Question

I'm diving with a friend who has a new Puck computer. Whether attached to a tank or not, the pressure shows 72. Obviously he can't use it until the problem is resolved. Is this a user correctable problem? It's set for PSI and all the other settings seem to be correct....

    Grand Cayman Recommendations

I'm not sure the word 'cheap' actually exists on Grand Cayman...but I found Sunset House to be reasonable. I had a group there in February and had a great time. There's a selection of rooms from oceanfront/view to dorm room type accomodations, with varying prices. 24 hour a day shore diving...

3 Best shore dives in GC?

Just out of curiosity...has anyone heard of 'Chains', a shore dive on the north side. I've done it a couple of time but wondered if anybody else has been there? It involves an anchor chain hanging down the wall....

Where did you stay in St. Thomas?

How are the beaches in Bonaire or should we go to Caymen?

I'd add a big endorsement to the condo route, especially for a family. You'll get more space (bedrooms, kitchen, etc.) than a hotel room.

    Looking for something different...

"Different' as in a change of destination...a couple of friends mentioned they liked St. Thomas so that's where I've started the search. Not looking for anything overly adventurous for this trip. And as far as crusie ships go...i've seen 7 in at one tiime in Grand Cayman and 9 in Cozumel. We...

    Back to reality

It's back to reality after 10 days on Grand Cayman. Stayed at and dove with Sunset House. The hotel is nice, certainly not the Ritz but then we weren't paying Ritz prices. And you can't beat the location, opposite side of town from the cruise ship insanity of 7 Mile Beach, but only a 10-15...

    Looking for something different...

We're looking for something different for next years trip...We've done a lot of the usual Carribean dive destinations (Caymans, Bonaire, Curacao, Cozumel, Grenada, Bahamas, Turks, etc.) and are considering the St. Thomas. Our criteria is pretty simple...good diving, non-diving activities and...

Where to stay in Grand Cayman?

I stayed at Sunset House last year and had a great time. Rooms were very nice. The restaurants are very good, My Bar is great and overall the hotel staff was very good. The dive operation was great! Boats leave on time, gear storage lockers are provided, dive staff is professional and fun...

    Cobalt VS Sunset House Debate

I was in Cayman in March...due to high winds diving at CC was seriously curtailed and no shore diving. Just a consideration depending on the time of year you're going....Personally, i stayed at Sunset House for a long weekend, had a great time. There is are advantages to being within walking...

    Sunset House goes 100% NON-Smoking.

and that's exactly the point I was trying to make....too many divers use gloves and/or excessive lead to compensate for inadequate buoyancy skills...and maybe (he said optimistically) those divers who have to (NOT need to) wear gloves, or are overweighted, or drag cameras, fins, and consoles...

    Sunset House goes 100% NON-Smoking.

Cowboy you apparently missed my caveat "When they're appropriate (cold water for example) have at it"...and you may be the best diver in the whole world, but being an instructor and having been diving for 33 years (what if you've been doing it wrong for 33 years?) still doesn't tell me anything...

    Sunset House goes 100% NON-Smoking.

I too am an instructor and choose to lead by example....and being an instructor doesn't earn you anything. Your performance does. Some of the worst divers I've seen are instructors and some of the best have never gone beyond entry level open water certification. And regardless of whether it's...

    Sunset House goes 100% NON-Smoking.

Sorry Cowboyneal...I can't get with your position on gloves. I've seen way too many divers use gloves to compensate for poor technique. When they're appropriate (cold water for example) have at it. Just like I've seen overweighted (NOT overweight) divers using lead to compensate for poor...
