Getting to the pool and practicing in a zero stress environment sounds like a good idea. Try doing a few skills mid-water, too. That'll make sure your buoyancy control is fine

They are pretty similar. The DST 1st stage has a turret. The block the hoses exit from can swivel. It might help certain hose configurations but I went for the DS4 as it is one less o-ring to fail, its slightly shorter, too.

Good plan, nitrox will definitely be useful for a liveaboard trip. There is quite a bit of sitting around between dives on a liveaboard. That'll be a good time to do the Nitrox course as it is pretty much all theory.
