FYI

I carry the "old syle" hing pin heavy duty Stainless Steel 2" web buckles for ~3.50 each.


The old "quick release" for 1" strap requires 2 d-rings in a sewn loop and a threading procedure for the free end. Check historical diving gear sites and look for a photo of a USD or Aqualung Dolphin pack. The straps were 1" and used d-rings for fastening. It was also a rig only Torquemada could love to wear in warm water.
