Any word on whether the resort will remain open? (Archipelago closed business on 20 Dec as a result of AA II incident.)

AFAIK, the Maluku Divers resort is entirely independent of AA.
When I was there, I do not see any indication the AAII incident has any impact to their operation.
I believe they will be operating for a long time in to the future.

Cheers

gee13; Great phtos from your girls Wisnu, so all that taken with G11? You must be proud!

Thanks gee13
Melati with G9 and her sister with E-PL1 - first time we use the camera with interchangeable lens for underwater. It's different experience than shotting with compact.

Holy crapola Batman :wow:...The frogfish yawn is simply outstanding, worth any pro photographer image!

Thanks Luko,
we just lucky
hope we have the oppotunity to dive and learn more from you - EVIL camera is something new for us.

Archipelago Fleet was the parent company for AAII & resort. Andy Shorten (Archipelago General Manager for boat & resort) was at Maluku Divers in mid Nov '10 while I was there. At that point he was hoping AAII could be repaired & returned to service. This was prior to the Sea Safari III incident on 5 Dec. Andy & AAII crew are now unemployed since the company closed business 20 Dec. (AAII repair, leasing SSIII & refunding deposits/payments to guests turned out to be too costly.) It was not clear talking with Andy in Nov if the resort would remain open.

Sorry I can’t say more – I’m just one of their happy customer. Don’t know what the inside, but Andy has assured me MD will be operating for long future time.
