mike_s:But.... I personally think that ScubaDiving magazine is just as biased ir not more, especially on gear reviews.
While I am not aware of how Scuba Diving currently does gear reviews, their was an article on CDNN a while back which mentioned a lawsuit by Force Fins against Scuba Diving over there gear reviews. The end result was that Scuba Diving admitted there reviews were biased. The article can be found at
Force Fin Lawsuit against Scuba Diving Magazine
mike_s:I guess you can't blame them completely for this though as this is a trend in the publishing industry. All magazines do this sort of thing. It's how they sell ad's to companies, which is the main way the magazine makes money.
Actually not all dive publications do this.. some just do it alot more then others. Some magazines like Scuba News retain editoral control and wont sell articles for advertisements. In the long run this might prevent advertisers from wanting to advertise with them, but sometimes integrity is more important.
I also agree that Dive Training is a excellent mag and definately worth the read.
