Depths for most of these dives will be less than 18 - 20 feet - usually more like 15 or so. Usually the currents are workable, but even when they're ripping, we've parked the cars a half mile or so apart and enjoyed a shore drift dive from south to north, or vice versa...Also, a strong 2nd for Gold Coast Scuba's meetup group. They got me into shore diving in the first place...nice folks, the shop is supportive, and if you're new and speak up, somebody will buddy up with you. They do free shorediving clinics from time to time.
And at BHB you can ride the current one direction, then when it switches at high tide - ride it back to where you started.
