There last 2 years this time, and don't recall any bugs at all, though some of the girls might perhaps bite.
 
Bring some mosquito repellant. I like sawyers myself. At dusk and dawn the mosquitos can be out.
One night in PG/small la laguna I fell asleep outside on the balcony and in the morning I was lucky not to get any bites.
 
Mozzies and sandflies (ankle biters). The same as everywhere....


....and the endemic 'Philippines Cobra'... be careful if walking in thick grass/rural areas.

I've had a Green Pit Viper in my house before (used to live adjacent to primary jungle)... that shouldn't be an issue at a resort in PG. LOL

Some species of dangerous scorpion, but I haven't seen one in 5 years here...
