Exact EAD for 56 ft using EANx32 ???

I would appreciate your help with this - my teacher is out of town. I'm thinking this answer -44 ft - is a typo in my Enriched Air Diving book- studying to get nitrox cert. I get 47 ft. On DSAT table. I round 56ft to 60 ft on EANx32 and get EAD of 47 ft. Have I done that correctly.

Thanks for your help?

The book is right, its 44. I use the exact depth if i know it, then round off the resulting answer of 44 up to 50 - of course this doesnt matter if you got 47 as you would round to the same depth anyway.

EAD = 43.6 feet.
Round up to 50' if using an RDP or 45' if using "The Wheel".

Pease, tell me how you got 44ft? I looked at DSAT table X32 there is no 56ft so i round to 60 ft and it says 47 ft EAD .What am i missing? Sorry to be so dense. I do apprecaite your help

Use the formula for EAD conversion.
You're using your DSAT table correctly. The problem lies in the fact that you are diving at an intermediate depth that is not given on the table.

Since the question is asking for exact EAD that should tip you off to use the equation instead of the table.

Pilot fish,

I checked my tables and came up with EAD of 47 feet for 32% at 60 feet.
I also check my tech book and it had the same answer. The EAD for 35 % at 60 is 44.

In cause your book doesn't have it the formula for figuring the exact EAD:

EAD= (1-fraction of oxygen) x (actual depth in feet + 33) - 33(surface atmosphere)
__________________________________________
divided by .79 (percent of nitrogen in air)

In your case:

.68 x 89
EAD= ((1-.32)x(56 + 33))/0.79 = 60.52/0.79 = 76.607 -33 = 43.607 or 44 feet EAD

Thank you all for helping with this. I'm going to follow this formula and see if I can get the right answer. I'll never pass this stuff. This is so damn time consuming compared to using my puter. This is a math test.

"= 60.52 = 76.607." I see where you got 60.52 but where did the 76.607 come from? This is soooooooooooooooooo confusing!!!

Divide the 60.52 by 0.79
