Jwood: My OW was done in 38 deg. water during periodic sleet.
It was in November and I wanted to get certified before going to the Caribbean in January. I poured warm water down my wetsuit before entering the water and my initial entry was not as shocking as I thought it would be. A quick yelp, one or two expletives and then my system began to adjust. By the end of the dive, I was actually quite comfortable. The next days dives were a breeze. Do take some hot liquids in a thermos with you for when you get out. Before you can divest yourself of gear and wet swim suit you will get plenty cold.
