Over the last month I have numerous times tried to use the HSBC ATM at the Mega Store. I choose them because my Mexican bank account is with them, yet I was trying to use my Wells Fargo Debit card.
Multiple times, starting July 1, I went through the process to draw out 3,000 pesos and after completing the transaction a note came up saying that it was "unable to dispense cash at this time".
Yesterday I discovered that my Wells debit card had been charged in each instance, including one day that they charged 3 times. Other ATMs including Scotia Bank worked just fine. The amount exceeded $1000. I am challenging those charges through Wells but it is a difficult process.
Needless to say, I can suggest that everyone be wary of using the HSBC ATMs at least for the time being.
