We are going to Curacao in late November and are currently planning to stay at the Marriott. Has anyone stayed there? Also, need recommendation for good dive operation.

Their onsite dive op, Caribbean Sea Sports, is a decent operation. They have nice boat. I was there on a cruise and went out with them. Only had 5 divers on the boat.

Don't know about the hotel itself, but I have had very good experiences with other Marriot properties, so I'd probably be happy staying there, if the price was decent.

We went to the casino there a few times during our visit in January, and ate dinner there once as well. It is an attractive property and we had good service in our limited interactions. The Marriott appeared to be MUCH nicer than the Hilton next door!

We stayed at the Hotel Kura Hulanda, which is lovely. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to be in town. (If you do this you definitely need to rent a car as well).

Have a good trip!

I haven't stayed at the Marriot but have gone there to eat a number of times and generally wandered all over checking the place out. Pretty nice property. Agree on the others mentioned, ate at the Hilton once and checked around, wasn't too crazy about it. It's a much older hotel that was renovated, and it's very generic. Hotel Kura Hulanda is pretty neat and you can walk to a ton of restaurants and stuff downtown, though it doesn't make a convienient "dive resort."

Let me second what Damselfish said about the Marriott. I also have not stayed at the Marriott but have walked around the property, eaten at the poolside grill and at the deli a couple of times. Good sandwiches and GREAT BANANNA BREAD at the deli.

I have not stayed there, but a friend of mine saids it is now her favorite Marriott in the world. They really enjoyed their stay. They rented a car and traveled about the island.

If you want to see some pictures you can go to scubadiving.com and get into the trip reports. I believe it was posted last may or june, but a great report from someone who stayed at the Marriott was posted under the title of Curacao with a nondiving spouse. They included a few pictures of the hotel and grounds in their report.

The property is one of my all time best, very clean and incredibly romantic if thats what you might want. I've been a guest there on 2 occasions and am going to be there in late november again. The dive op there is good, they have a fast jet boat, but the best dive dives imho are in the north and are easier by car and shor diving.

Hi, I am also going to Curacao with a non-diving spouse. We are staying at the Marriott. From what everyone has written, it looks like we'll enjoy the 5 day trip. I was hoping to get a few dives in and it sounds like the dive outfitter on property is good (relief). Do they just dive off of the beach in front of the hotel, or do they go to the wrecks and other spots? Do they offer one tank dives? Does anyone know if the snorkeling off the beach at the Marriott is good? Any suggestions on restaurants, and good beaches and snorkel spots would be helpful.
