Key Largo is a small Island but has a wide variety of hotels. The Marriott is beautiful as is the Key Largo Hilton, both Bayside. The Marriott is at the top of the Island aound Mile Marker 104. The Hilton is down at 97. Someone mentioned Ocean Pointe, again a great resort, but remember it is quite a bit further south, around mile marker 93. We have dive shops about every 1/4 mile so you should find something you like. We all pretty much do the wrecks and the reefs, so it really comes down to the tyope of boat that you prefer. A lot of the boats will take snorkelers, so you can stay together, but there are others that specialize in strictly snorkel, taking you to the shallower reefs, about 4 to 8 feet of water, a much better experience than trying to snorkel in 30 feet of water. Keys Diver has both, if we can help.

Vis and diving is better up toward Key Largo but not a lot of what I consider 3star or better, nor as many topside activities.
Key West diving is so-so until you get to the Marquesas and beyond.KW has quite a bit to keep you occupied when not diving and yes some of it is family friendly:D

Restaurants in KW are significantly more abundant and the food is in general more diverse and a little better.

gilberts is actually at 106.9 it is a very nice hotel with a tiki bar and beach and across the canal there is another hotel called the anchorage it is a 4 star hotel and very nice
