If you're interested in diving the LOOE KEY NATIONAL MARINE SANCTUARY, the ADOLPHUS BUSCH or nearby areas I recommend that you contact Rachel at Wreckreation Charters. She runs a 6-pack out of Cudjoe Key. Her email is rachel@wreckreationcharters.com.

First of all, I guess I should apologize for completely taking over this thread!LOL! But since he posted it right when I was going to, I figured a second Keys thread would be redundant, plus he may appreciate the questions and info I got too.

OK, here are a few places for under $100 a night that I have found. If anyone has stayed at or knows about these places, please let me know. I am not looking for luxury; just cleanliness and comfort.

Ragged Edge Resort - Islamorada - $79/night

Kelly's On The Bay - Ley Largo - from $89

HUngry Pelican Resort - Key Largo - variety of rooms in the $60 to $85 range

edited to add:

Gulf View - Grassy Key - $99/night

Key Lantern Inn - Islamorada - $55

Sunset Inn - Islamorada - $70

Stayed at the Sunset Inn over labor day. Older building, however it was very clean with a nice little pool. Paid $70. on the weekend and $50. midweek. Very good place to have breakfast next door. I think the name was Capt. Mike's.

Thanks for the review!

I also just found this:

Looe Key Dive Resort - Ramrod Key - $75

Amoray Dive Resort - Key Largo - $75/90- 105?
http://www.amoray.com/roomrates.html

Check out Lime Tree Motor Inn. Mile marker 69.5. Right in the middle of it all.
The Thunderbolt is a great wreck. Huge eels and grouper. The lower keys offer cleaner reefs as most people from Florida don't head down there on their weekend getaways. They usually stay in Key Largo. You'll see that on a Friday as the convoy of boats and cars slow the travel lanes. Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary is pretty cool. As well as the Eagle wreck. Little Italy for Italian food is great and cheap.

Thanks! I don't know how I passed over Lime Tree! I think it must have been when I was aiming for really low rates, and then I decided anything under $100 was a deal. It looks like a very nice place! Actually, it is listed under Lime Tree Bay Resort if we are talking about the same place. http://www.limetreebayresort.com/rates.html

That is definitely right in the area I'd like to be in. Thanks for the info!:)

Maybe this place is a good place to stay with... but we sat
one day and "tried" to count the number of divers/people
they had on one of their boats. It was in the 40's, and
we don't think we counted them all. I've never seen
a cattle boat with so many people on it. That alone
was enough to keep me from staying there.
