yes I dive with a compass all the time, it's a councel model.

I always use compass on every dive. Before and during the dive. Its just good form to know where you are and where you are going. Case in point, my boat broke anchor last summer and headed accross the lake in a strong breeze. After surfacing from spearfishing I noticed it was a long way off. So after a compass reading I submerged and took off to get it. Having that compass and knowing how to use it let me swim underwater below boat traffic where effeciency is better than surface swimming, not to mention safer. I will soon invest in the underwater sonar tracking devices as an added precaution as the lakes we dive usually have quite poor vis.
