In that case you can change GF to the highest you are comfortable with at the time of the emergency. Other option is to forget about your current profile and start getting to the surface monitoring GF99 and SurfGF
 
I had an email exchange with Shearwater technical support and this is a bug they had already identified and will be part of a fix coming in August.
