While I've got my basic stuff like mask, snorkel and fins, I'm planning my budget and putting money aside for my BC and regulator. I'm basically gonna be diving in the tropical waters of the SE Asia region and unlikely to be doing technical dives, so I reckon I'm not gonna be needing fancy regulators.
Basically, money is an issue, so getting value for money is important for me. I've heard advice that I should look at what dive centres have cos chances are, they've got the affordable stuff that are durable enough to take the daily punishment. What's your take on that view?
Secondly, which do you think should I buy first: a BC or a regulator? I know BCs are something very personal, where you'd know where you've kept what stuff in which pocket, and that can be critical. However, I'm a bit of a germ-phobe and I don't quite fancy the idea of sticking a demand valve which has been used by so many other people, so the idea of getting a reg first appeals to me.
