Fins for snorkel vs scuba

I have splitfins for diving and I have to say that when Im snorkling I dont find them very efficient neither for surface swimming or freediving.
They work very well for scuba diving but they just seem to require too much kicking for snorkling and freediving. Kicking consume air and thats one luxury you dont have while freediving.
