It's very intriguing to view these old threads and see what has changed or not changed. I learned recently about "scuba balloons" . AKA DSMB's. Like anything else this century I suppose, advances are being achieved at an exponential rate.

The Ranger already comes with trim weight pouches on the back. Nothing to add.
I never carry weight in the trim pouches. I carry my snork on one side. With a little pool time you might find them unnecessary, and they can be removed.
Ever float in an inflated intertube? Keep the BC low and tight around your hips, roll onto your back and keep your legs extended and on top of the water.
Fully inflate if you wish. Swim backwards to the boat or beach. and if it's a longer distance you will start to appreciate the BC even more.
