Hey jazzyb,
We're doing a first time to PR 3/22-29. Staying at El Conquistador at Fajardo (on NE tip, about 30 miles from San Juan.
We're hooking up with La Caso del Mar, the on-site operator, and from what I see and hear, the "spiffiest" operation on the island. www.lacasadelmar.net
Our choice of *where* to dive was dictated by where we're staying, but I am told that the other side, the west coast of PR is considered the best diving, given the choice.
As you're staying in S.J., you'll probably find it closer/easier to dive out of Fajardo as well.
I'll write back after giving it a go and let you know what we found.
